We had a weekend full of Easter fun. Saturday morning, Emma and I woke up bright and early to go to Rainbow Grocery Store for their free kids easter egg hunt. It was not too good, but I really had to take a lesson from Emma who was over the moon about it and the few eggs she found amid the choas. There were hundreds of kids and each age had an aisle to walk down and find eggs. They had donuts for the kids, but they were just boxes of donut holes and about 150 kids had their grimey hands in there pulling out donuts. I promised Em we would go buy donuts at the bakery after the hunt- that was just grossing me out. So after the hunt we went to get donuts and I have to share this funny story. There was a nice man there who smiled at Emma and said, "oh are you picking out donuts for your daddy?" and Emma answered, "YES! My daddy eats lots of donuts and LOTS of ice cream and then he does a big poopy and then he makes room for more!" OH MY GOD!! Where does she get this stuff??? So, so embarrasing. The poor man did not know what to say.....
After having a donut for breakfast, I took advantage of the 60 degree day and went on a long run. Couple more weeks till the race! Getting excited.
Sunday the girls woke up EARLY at 6 am and found all thier eggs and baskets. We tried really hard to fill the eggs with things other than candy because I know all the relatives will be loading them up with candy later. They were so excited and did such a good job taking turns finding eggs. We had everyone over to our house for Easter brunch. Emma and Abby recieved about 4 other easter baskets full of goodies. We tried to set a rule that they could have 1 piece after each meal- but I am thinking they (Emma) may have snuck a few when I was busy cooking. We
needs some more kids in this family, these 2 are so spoiled when everyone comes over, it's ridiculous. Not to mention, I am not too excited about the 10 pounds of candy we now have in
the house. Emma and I made an easter bunny cake for dessert- she was quite proud of it, but was not in a picture taking mood. By 6:30 they were a little pumped up from all the excitement. It was a fun day. We have spent a few weeks really talking about what Easter means to Emma. She is a little confused by the concept, but is starting to get it. She asks
questions like, "Jesus died and then came out of his cave to live inside my heart? How does he fit in my heart? Does he go in your heart too?" I just said, Jesus does not have a body anymore, but he lives inside all of all and helps us feel loved and do the right things. She said, "Oh, so when I take away Abby's toys, Jesus is in my heart saying, No don't do that, Emma!" I said, Yes, Emma and left it at that. It was a fun weekend and we are so glad spring is here!
