It has been an amazing spring so far here in the frozen tundra! We had the first March with no snow since the 1800's!! And have been enjoying sun and temps in the 60's and 70's. It has been great to get back outside, get to the parks, up to the cabin, etc. We just got back from a weekend at the cabin, putting the docks in already. We took the girls for a paddle boat ride with thier fishing poles. They are both amazingly good at casting, but Mike and I are still a little hesitant to put the hook and bait on their poles unless they have our undivided attention and a lot of room to cast. It's funny though even without the chance of catching something, they will sit there happily gazing into the water, expecting a fish to come up and bite thier bobbers. Emma is determined to catch us some Halibut for dinner this summer and doesn't understand when I try to explain that Halibut are salt water fish. Speaking of Emma, she is having a huge growth spurt the past month and her appetite is unreal. This is from my kiddo that has been hanging around the 10th percentile for height and weight her whole life- she is now eating more than me at almost every meal and snacking all day in between. Thank goodness she has some healthy habits. We went to Sam's Club to stock up on some of her favorites and the ladies in the store all commented on what a healthy cart of food we had- mini bell peppers, spinach, broccolii, apples, roasted almonds, shrimp (her absolute favorite- grilled, stir fried, cocktail, with pasta- whatever, she eats a ridiculous amount of shrimp each week), and some mini corndogs, because she IS a five year old kid, after all. She is still loving school, swimming lessons, riding her bike to the park, and playing with friends.
Abby is busy being 2 and is enjoying pushing her babies outside in her stoller and shopping cart. She is very physical and althletic and Mike and I are both amazed at her abilites on the playground, and the swimming pool. She has no fear at all and spend most of her time underwater. I think it took Emma years of swimming lessons to be as comfortable as Abby is in the water, it is funny how different two kids can be. We always laugh that Abby has turned out to be our "boy" because she is so rough and tumble, althletic and brave.
Mike will be switing to weekend shift for about a year. That means he will work Sat, Sun and Monday and have the rest of the week off. It will be great for the summer to be up at the cabin most of the time. The girls and I will probabally stay up there for most of the summer, except for when Emma has camp. Mike is excited to join a sand volleyball league up there and do some serious fishing this summer.
I am enjoying the warm weather too, and doing a lot more runs outside. I have another half marathon coming up in a few weeks and after that will be counting down the days until I can get on the lake and do some waterskiing. So we are all doing well! Here are a bunch of pics of the girls, easter, etc. I love the one of Abby doing her daddy's "hair pwetty" He is such a good dad to girls, and lets them dress him all up!
